Island Nightlife: Grenada’s Fun & Eventful Afterhours

Not only does Grenada have a plethora of outdoor activities and attractions, but did you know that Grenada boasts a thriving nightlife? You can guarantee that every night there is a local hotspot bustling with activity. You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for venues to hang out and party at, or as the locals say ‘lime’ or ‘fete’. Most of these establishments and events provide free admission and/or drink specials to Students and are located near St. George’s University or on the University’s bus route. 

Club Bananas 

Located in True Blue is a nightclub, restaurant, bar, and games room called Bananas. Bananas are open from 4 pm Monday through Saturday, although its most popular days are Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with closing hours lasting well into the early hours of the next day. Tuesday is Twofers Day, which means patrons can benefit from two-for-one drinks, bar games, and other specials. Banana’s hosts a “Summer Starts Here” event every Friday with popular DJs and an amped-up ambiance, and similar events are held on Saturdays. 

The Brewery (West Indies Beer Co.) 

Specializing in handcrafted beers and drink specials is a local Beer Garden called The Brewery located in Lance Aux Epines. Almost every night has a drink special, but closer to the weekend is usually when it’s most popular, with Thursdays being Latin Night, Fridays being the peak of activity (you may even see attendees dancing on tables having a good time), and Saturday and Sunday usually have loads of activities.  

Junction Bar & Grill

Junction Bar and Grill, located in Lance Aux Epines, has a crowd, activity, and drink special practically every night, with Friday nights being the most popular. Tuesdays feature cash and prize bingo, Wednesdays feature Oldie Goldie music from the 90s, 80s, and 70s, Thursdays feature Afrobeat music, Fridays is the weekly Freaky Friday event, and Saturdays feature live music. 

Dodgy Dock 

Dodgy Dock, a welcoming seaside restaurant within the True Blue Bay Resort in True Blue, provides several nightly weekly activities, the most anticipated of which is Wednesday Night’s Street Food. Aside from the offers, entertainment includes steel pan music on Tuesdays, Street Food Night on Wednesdays with local vendors, live music and a DJ kicking off at 10 p.m., Chocolate Night on Thursdays, Fiesta Fridays with Mexican cuisine, and live music on Saturdays. 

Lavo Lanes 

Lavo Lanes, a local bowling alley in Calliste, St. George, hosts nightlife events in its bar, lounge, and rooftop areas. Bottomless Thursdays, regarded as the start of the weekend, is the most popular event. Patrons pay an entrance fee to enjoy limitless drinks, the most anticipated of which is the rum punch. Enjoy amazing meals on the rooftop all night, hookah in the lounge, or dance in the main area. 

Coconut Beach Restaurant 

Coconut Beach Restaurant located on Grand Anse Beach draws a crowd every Thursday night with its Dollar Wings, Drinks Specials, and DJ. Partake in dancing and frolicking within the restaurant or on the sand. 

Prickly Bay Marina 

Beautiful Marina Located in Lance Aux Epines, Prickly Bay Marina is known for its good vibes and good food. Its famed Wednesday bingo night brings laughter, cash, and other prizes sometimes including a goat or a pig or both. Fridays and Saturdays include live music and look out for the normal food discounts publicized throughout the week. 

When it comes to hangout areas, this list is just the tip of the iceberg, as there are several bars, lounges, and restaurants spread around the island. You can also check out Container Park and Options in True Blue with spots such as The Lab and Rumours, which hosts fun activities including karaoke, and are inclusive of drink specials. A good time is never too far or too hard to find in Grenada.
